International trade of goods of the Republic of Moldova in May 20261
Exports of goods in May 2026 were amounted to 258.4 million EUR, with 4.2% less than in April 2026 and with 13.2% more compared to May 2025.
Exports of goods in January-May 2026, amounted to 1376.5 million EUR, which is 11.4% more than in the corresponding period of 2025.
Exports of domestic goods in January-May 2026 amounted to 1094.5 million EUR (79.5% of total exports), with 14.3% more than in the corresponding period of 2025, which influenced the increase of the total value of exports with 11,1%.
Reexports of foreign goods in January-May 2026 amounted to 282.0 million EUR (20.5% of total exports), or 1.1% more than in the corresponding period of 2025, which influenced the increase of the total value of exports with 0.3%.
Exports of goods to the countries of the European Union (EU-27) in January-May 2026 totaled 867.0 million EUR (11.3% more than in the corresponding period of 2025), accounting 63.0% of total exports, the same as in January-May 2025.
Exports of goods to CIS2 countries in January-May 2026 amounted to 84.1 million EUR (with 5.4% more than in the corresponding period of 2025), equivalent to a share of 6.1% in total exports, less with 0.4 percentage points compared to January-May 2025.
Imports of goods in May 2026 amounted to 806.8 million EUR, with 11.5% less compared to April 2026 and with 6.5% more compared to May 2025.
Imports of goods in January-May 2026, totaled EUR 4172.0 million, which is 5.8% more than in the corresponding period of 2025.
Imports of goods from the countries of the European Union (EU-27) in January-May 2026 amounted to 2323.4 million EUR (with 7.9% more compared to corresponding period of 2025), accounting for 55.7% of total imports, more with 1.1 percentage points compared to January-May 2025.
Imports of goods from CIS2 countries in January-May 2026 amounted to 125.9 million EUR (with 1.3% more than in the same period of 2025), equivalent to a share of 3.0% in total imports, less with 0.2 percentage points compared to January-May 2025.
The trade balance deficit in May 2026 was 548.4 million EUR, which is 94.1 million EUR (-14.6%) less than in April 2026, and with 19.1 million EUR (+3.6%) more compared to May 2025.
The considerable gap between exports and imports of goods led to the accumulation of a trade balance deficit amounting to 2795.5 million EUR in January-May 2026, which is 89.8 million EUR (+3.3%) more than the level recorded in the corresponding period of 2025.
In January-May 2026, the trade balance with the European Union (EU-27) recorded a deficit of 1456.4 million EUR, and with CIS countries – 41.8 million EUR, which is 82.1 million EUR (+6.0%) more, respectively with 2.7 million EUR (-6.1%) less, compared to the values recorded in the corresponding period of 2025.
