A delegation from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) carried out a study visit to colleagues at the National Institute of Statistics of Romania between 4-8 December. This visit is part of the TAIEX project, funded by the European Union.
During this mission, NBS statisticians gained knowledge concerning the tools and the methodology of conducting Statistical surveys in Romania in accordance with the European Union regulations on road freight transport and household tourism demand.
At the same time, NIS Romania experts examined the draft questionnaires of the surveys developed by NBS statisticians and came up with recommendations for their content improvement. In this context, the experts came up with proposals regarding the sampling, data sources and data collection, data extension, periodicity, data transmission to Eurostat, deadlines and ways of dissemination on tourism and road freight transport statistics.
Please note that, the road freight transport survey aims to produce information on the volume of transported goods, the turnover of goods by total economy, by destination, by group of goods, by transport capacity and the vehicle journeys of road freight transport. The survey on households tourism demand aims to produce statistical data characterising the tourism demand of residents in the Republic of Moldova.
Please note that, TAIEX is the European Commission's technical assistance and information exchange instrument and provides support for the harmonisation of national legislation with the EU acquis, EU policies and practices.
