National Bureau of Statistics informs that in 2012 268,2 thou. tourists attended the establishments of collective touristic accommodation, of which 179,2 thou. Moldovan tourists (66,8%) and 89,0 thou. foreign tourists (33,2%). In comparison with 2011 the number of tourists has increased (+8,0%), mainly due to the increase of the number of tourists and recreation camps, holiday villages and other recreation structures (+53,0%), hotels and motels (+15,2%), health-care structures (+7,4%).

Imports of goods in December 2012 registered a value of 504,5 mio. US dollars, which is with 5,6% more than in the previous month and with 5,7% less compared to December 2011. In 2012 imports summed up 5213,1 mio. US dollars, more than in 2011 with 0,4%.

National Bureau of Statistics informs, that the average salary in national economy constituted 3477,7 Lei in 2012, and it increased in nominal value with 8,9% and in real value (adjusted to consumer price index) - with 4,1%. In December 2012, the average gross nominal earnings represented 3888,8 Lei and incrased with 4,9% more compared to December 2011.

National Bureau of Statistics communicates that, global agricultural production, in all types of households (agricultural enterprises, farms and population households) in 2012, according to preliminary data, constituted 77,6% compared to 2011. The decrease of global agricultural production was caused by a major decrease of plant production - with 32,6%, animal production registered a decrease of 1,1%.

National Bureau of Statistics informs, that at the beginning of 2012/2013 school year, the network of primary and general secondary education institutions included 1397 schools, gymnasiums and lyceums, including 3 evening schools and 1394 day schools. Day education is organized in 108 primary schools, 767 gymnasiums, 491 lyceums and 28 schools for children with delays in the intelectual or physical development.

National Bureau of Statistics communicates, that in quarter III 2012 living subsistence constituted in average per person 1456,9 lei, which is more than in quarter III 2011. The increase of the living subsistence is determined mainly by the increase of prices, especially for foodstuff products. Simultaneously, the value of subsisting level is approx. at the same level as in the previous quarter.

Thus, the secondary vocational institutions network comprises 2 vocational lyceums, 44 vocational schools and 21 schools of trade (including 6 schools under the penitentiaries).

National Bureau of Statistics informs that the higher education network is constituted from 34 units, of which 19 public institutions and 15 - non-public. At the beginning of academic year 2012/13 number of students was 102,5 thou. persons (excluding foreign students), or with 1,4% less compared to previous year. The decrease in the number of the students was caused by the decrease in the number of the students in the state institutions. In average, per 10 thousands inhabitatbts there were 288 students in higher education institutions.

National Bureau of Statistics informs that, in the 3rd quarter of 2012 the economically active population (employed population plus unemployed persons) of the Republic of Moldova was 1286,9 thousand persons, less with 4,5% (-60,3 thousand) compared to the 3rd quarter of 2011. Active population structure has changed, as follows: the share of employment increased from 94,7% to 95,2% and the percentage of unemployed decreased from 5,3% to 4,8%.
