Elderly population in the Republic of Moldova in 2020
A number of 584,0 thousand of people aged 60 and over were living in the Republic of Moldova at the beginning of 2021, which represents 22,5% of the total number of the population with usual residence. About 349,5 thousand of the total number of older people were women, every third person was between 60 and 64 years old, and 61,2 thousand were people over the age of 80.

Gross Domestic Product in the second quarter and the first semester of 2021
The National Bureau of Statistics informs that the Gross Domestic Product, estimated for the 2nd quarter of 2021, amounted to 57,7 billion lei, current (market) prices. Compared to the 2nd quarter of 2020, GDP has increased, in real terms, with 21,5% per gross series and with 19,1% per seasonally adjusted series.

According to the results of the Labour Force Survey, in the second quarter 2021, the labour force of the Republic of Moldova, which includes the employed and unemployed population, was 874,0 thousand persons, increasing by 1,9% in comparison to the second quarter of 2020.

The National Bureau of Statistics informs that the number of death in 2020, according to the data of the Public Services Agency, was 40656 cases, increasing by 4245 cases compared to 2019.

The National Bureau of Statistics informs that, in the first quarter of 2021 the Gross Domestic Product on gross series totaled 46,5 billion lei current market prices. Compared to the first quarter of 2020, GDP increased by 1,8% on the gross series and by 0,1% on the seasonally adjusted series.

Labour Force in the Republic of Moldova: Employment and unemployment in the first quarter 2021
According to the results of the Labour Force Survey, in the first quarter 2021, the labour force of the Republic of Moldova, which includes the employed and unemployed population, was 833,9 thousand persons, decreasing by 0,8% in comparison to the first quarter of 2020.

The National Bureau of Statistics informs that, the Gross Domestic Product, estimated for the quarter IV of 2020, in nominal value amounted to 56318 million lei current market prices. Compared to the quarter IV 2019, GDP decreased by 3,3% on the gross series and by 4,4% on the seasonally adjusted series.

The touristic activity of the tourism agencies and tour-operators in 2020
The National Bureau of Statistics informs that, in 2020 the tourism agencies and tour-operators provided tourism services to 124,5 thousand tourists and excursionists, which represents 33,1% compared to 2019. The number of tourists and excursionists in the reporting year compared with 2019, decreased by 252,1 thousand visitors, the decreased was caused by the decrease of the number of participants of outbound tourism with 235,9 thousand visitors (-76,0%), domestic tourism - with 12,9 thousand visitors (-65,0%) and inbound tourism - with 3,3 thousand visitors (-7,1%).

Attendance of collective tourist accommodation establishments in 2020
National Bureau of Statistics informs that 90,3 thou. tourists attended collective tourist accommodation establishments in the period of January-December 2020, of which 61,6 thou. were resident tourists (68,2% of total) and 28,7 thou. - non-resident tourists (31,8%).

National Bureau of Statistics informs that, in 2020 exports summed up 2485,2 millions USD, less than in 2019 with 10,6% and imports summed up 5415,7 millions USD, less than in 2019 with 7,3%.

Industrial activity in January-November 2020
National Bureau of Statistics informs that, in November 2020, the industrial production increased by 2,7% compared to the corresponding month of the previous year, as a result of increase of the quarrying industry (+31,5%) and production of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and air conditioning supply (+28,7%). In the same time the manufacturing industry registered an decrease (-2,4%).

The National Bureau of Statistics informs that 50,4 million passengers were transported with public transport in January-November 2020, with 46,7% less than in the similar period of 2019. The passengers turnover constituted 2206,0 million passenger-kilometers, with 60,3% less than January-November 2019.

he National Bureau of Statistics informs that, the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), estimated for the 3rd quarter of 2020, in nominal value amounted to 61719 million lei current market prices. Compared to the 3rd quarter of 2019, GDP decreased by 9,7% on the gross series and by 11,5% on the seasonally adjusted series. Compared to the 2nd quarter of 2020, GDP decreased by 1,1% on the seasonally adjusted series.

Industrial activity of the Republic of Moldova in January-September 2020 National Bureau of Statistics informs that, in September 2020, the industrial production (gross series) decreased by 7,9% compared to the corresponding month of the previous year, as a result of decrease of the manufacturing industry (-10,5%). In the same time the quarrying industry (+16,6%) and production of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and air conditioning supply (+24,1%) registered an increase.
