City infrastructure and sanitation activities in urban localities in 2014

National Bureau of Statistics reports that, of the total area of urban land, 6,5 thou. hectares or 7,7% of the total urban land are covered by green spaces. Green areas figures were practically constant during the period of 2007-2013, but decreased with 0,9 thousand ha in 2014, fact that registered respectively 0,8 and 0,1 thousand hectares mostly in Chisinau municipality as well as the Otaci town. Green spaces shrinking emphasize urban environmental risks that might have a negative impact on their viability and sustainability, quality of life and health of the population.
