Freight and passenger transportation in the Republic of Moldova in January-May 2019
The National Bureau of Statistics informs that 43,2 million passengers were transported with public transport in January-May 2019, with 3,4% more than in the similar period of 2018. The passenger's journey constituted 2172,7 million passenger-kilometers, with 5,6% more than January-May 2018.
In the period under review, passenger transport accounted for the highest share (97,3%), followed by rail transport (1,4%) and air transport (1,2%).
Compared to January-May 2018, increases were recorded for river transport of passengers (+11,3%), road (+3,7%) and air passenger(+0,1). Also the rail passenger transport decreased by 10,7% compared to compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
