The National Bureau of Statistics reports that in January-June 2024, public transport companies transported 141.3 million passengers, 5.8% more than in the same period last year. This evolution was due to the increase in the number of passengers transported by road (+27.4%) and air transport (+19.1%). At the same time, the number of passengers carried by river (-15.5%), railway (-14.6%) and trolleybus transport (-3.9%) decreased during the analyzed period. Passenger turnover increased by 9.1% and amounted to 2,815.5 million passenger-km.
In January-June 2024, rail, road, river and air transport enterprises transported 8.9 million tons of cargo, which is 8.2% higher than in January-June 2023. In the reporting period, the volume of cargo transported by road (+16.1%) and air transport (+10.1%) increased. At the same time, the volume of cargo transported by rail (-21.4%) and river transport (-2.4%) decreased. Cargo turnover of transport enterprises amounted to 2,744.5 million ton-km, which is 1.4% more than in the same period last year.
