An international expert mission on the final results preparation for 2024 Population and Housing Census data dissemination, took place at the National Bureau of Statistics

From April 14 to April 18, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) hosted the expert mission on the final results preparation for 2024 Population and Housing Census (PHC) data dissemination according to the international, in particular EU standards, with the professional expertise of international expert Diana Beltadze. The mission takes place in preparation for the next round of dissemination of the summary final 2024 PHC data dissemination, planned by August 2025.

During the mission, the current situation of census data processing on demographic, migration, ethno-cultural, educational and economic characteristics of the population were assesed. The control rules, the conditions of automated data processing, the matching of census data with data from administrative data sources were analyzed. To ensure comparability and consistency of data, for some of the census topics mentioned, comparative analyses of LFS data with previous censuses, current statistics and administrative data sources were carried out.

Moreover, issues concerning the data processing and analysis on collective living quarters were discussed. Working sessions were also addressed to the topics related to the migration variables, emphasizing the clear distinction between the native and foreign-born population in order to better understand the population structure and mobility.

The expert mission was carried out with the support of the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA Moldova), within the Project Support to the National Bureau of Statistics to conduct the 2024 Population and Housing Census.
