Based on Article 11 of Law No. 239/2008 on transparency in the decision-making process and point 15 of the Annex to Government Decision No. 967/2016 “Regarding the mechanism of public consultation with civil society in the decision-making process,” the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), as the central authority in the field of statistics, proposes for public consultation the Tabulation Plan for the final results of the 2024 Population and Housing Census.

The Population and Housing Census (PHC) aims to provide public information about the resident population and housing in the country for the development, monitoring, and evaluation of state policies, supporting human development decisions, scientific research, and the preparation of development programs at local, regional, and national levels.

According to Government Decision No. 951/2022 of 28.12.2022 “Regarding the organization and conduct of the Population and Housing Census in the Republic of Moldova in 2024,” the dissemination of the final results of the census is planned in two phases: within 12 months and within 18 months from the completion of the census.

List of topics for dissemination within 12 months:

I. Population by geographic distribution
II. Demographic characteristics of the population I: sex, age, place of residence, place of birth, citizenship
III. Demographic characteristics of the population II: marital status and fertility
IV. Ethno-cultural characteristics of the population
V. Educational characteristics of the population
VI. Migration characteristics of the population
VII. Population by difficulties in vision, hearing, mobility, and memory in daily life
VIII. Agricultural activity of households

List of topics for dissemination within 18 months:

IX. Economic characteristics of the population
X. Living conditions
XI. Housing
XII. Families and households

In this context, the National Bureau of Statistics proposes for public consultation the list of tables to be disseminated.
