The National Bureau of Statistics announces the public consultation of the draft Government decision on amending Government Decision No. 935/2018 concerning the organization and functioning of the National Bureau of Statistics.

The draft Government decision has been prepared based on Article 7(b) of Law No. 136/2017 on the Government, in accordance with the provisions of Law No. 93/2017 on official statistics, and to implement the provisions of point 7 of Chapter 18 “Statistics” of the National Action Plan for the Republic of Moldova’s accession to the European Union for 2024–2027, approved by Government Decision No. 829/2023. It aims to implement international commitments provided in the Association Agreement between the Republic of Moldova, on the one hand, and the European Union, the European Atomic Energy Community, and their Member States, on the other hand, the RM–EU Association Agenda 2021–2027, commitments assumed by the Republic of Moldova as a candidate country for EU accession, EU recommendations according to the 2024 EU Enlargement Package Report on Chapter 18 Statistics, including commitments assumed during the RM–EU bilateral screening held on 13–14 November 2024 in Luxembourg, as well as the 2025–2029 Reform Agenda (in finalization), the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda, the Strategy for the Development of the National Statistical System (NSS) for 2023–2030, approved by Government Decision No. 954/2022, and the NSS Development Program for 2023–2026, approved by Government Decision No. 503/2023, among others.

The draft aims to optimize the organizational structure of the National Bureau of Statistics to enhance efficiency and modernize statistical processes.
