National Bureau of Statistics informs that, in October 2015 enterprises of railway, road, river and air transport, have transported 1238,6 thou. tonnes of goods, with 15,9% more than in the previous month and with 28,4% less compared to October 2014. The turnover of goods in October 2015 summed up 327,0 mio. tonne-km, with 0,2% less than in the previous month and with 20,7% less compared to October 2014.

National Bureau of Statistics informs that, in January-September 2015 exports of goods amounted 1448,2 mln. USD, while imports of goods amounted 2962,0 mln. USD. Compared to the same period of the 2014, exports decreased by 16,6% and imports by 23,4%. The trade balance deficit in January-September 2015 has been of 1513,8 mln. USD, lower by 614,5 mln. USD (-28,9%) than that recorded in the corresponding period of 2014.

Moldovan visitors' departures abroad registered crossing the state borders came to 4334,9 thousand from January-September 2015, posting a growth of 13,6% more than in the same period of 2014.

(Noutăți) Today, October 20, 2015 all member countries of the United Nations Organization are celebrating the World Statistics Day under the motto "Better data. Better lives".

This day was internationally officialised by the UN General Assembly resolution A/RES/69/282, and the importance of statistical data for decisions making based on evidence has been stressed by a message of the UN General Secretary, Mr. Ban Ki-moon on August 19, 2015 addressed to the heads of states by which he recognizes "The fundamental importance of sustainable national statistical capacity to produce credible and timely statistics and indicators".

Compared to the same period of the 2014, exports decreased by 17,2% and imports by 23,0%. The trade balance deficit in January-August 2015 has been of 1339,6 mln. USD, lower by 514,6 mln. USD (-27,8%) than that recorded in the corresponding period of 2014.

National Bureau of Statistics informs that, involvement in voluntary work is a spread phenomenon in the Republic of Moldova. According to survey data, in April 2015, 1264,5 thousand persons, or 42 percent of the total population aged 15 years and over, helped people from other families or worked unpaid for the benefit of their community. In all volunteers, women represent 57 percent and persons from rural areas 62 percent.

National Bureau of Statistics informs that, at the beginning of the year 2015, in Republic of Moldova were registered 576,6 thousand persons aged 60 years and over, representing about 16% of the total resident population of the country. About 58,4% of the total number of elderly people is living in rural areas. Depending on age, it is found that every third person is aged between 60-64 years and 13,4% are people who are more than 80 years old.
