The National Bureau of Statistics informs that exports of goods in August 2009 registered a value of 98,0 mln. US dollars, which is 12,0% less than in the previous month and 36,6% less than in August 2008. Imports of goods in August 2009 registered a value of 233,9 mln. US dollars, which is 11,7% less than in the previous month and 48,5% less than in August 2008.

National Bureau of Statistics informs that in January-August 2009 the average salary of one employee in national economy constituted 2696,4 Lei and it increased compared to the same period of the previous year with 9,8%. The real salary in the same period of time increased with 9,2%. In the budgetary sector the average salary was 2338,1 Lei, and increased compared to January-August 2008 with 22,6%, in the real sector of economy - 2902,5 Lei and increased compared to the same period of the previous year with 5,9%.

National Bureau of Statistics informs that 490,5 thousand inhabitants in the age of 60 years and more, of which women represent more than a half (61%) lived in the beginning of 2009 in the Republic of Moldova. Two thirds of the entire aged population live in rural area. Every second inhabitant is between 60-69 years old and 13,8% are persons with more than 80 years old.

National Bureau of Statistics informs that in January-August 2009 enterprises of railway, road, river and air transport, have transported 4698,1 thou. tonnes of goods, or 39,4% of the total volume realized in same period of the previous year. The turnover of goods in the mentioned period summed up 1599,9 mio tonne-km, or 47,0% the volume registered in January-August 2008.

National Bureau of Statistics informs that in the 2nd quarter of 2009 population’s available income were in average of 1179,6 MDL per person, decreasing with 2,9% compared to the same period of previous year. US dollars, which is 2,0% more than in the previous month and 40,7% less than in July 2008.
