The National Bureau of Statistics conducts training sessions for the staff involved in household data collection for the survey "Children’s Activities"

Between 1 - 11 April 2025, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) is conducting a training round for approximately 130 interviewers from all regions of the country, involved in household data collection for the statistical survey "Children's Activities."

The "Children's Activities" survey is an additional module to the Labor Force Survey, whose main objective is to obtain the latest information on the socio-demographic characteristics of children aged 5 to 17, their involvement in schooling, economic, and household activities at the national level, ensuring international comparability.

The training is conducted by trainers from among the NBS staff responsible for conducting household surveys. During the training sessions, interviewers are familiarised with the main methodological aspects of the survey, such as the concepts and definitions used, the scope, the content of the individual questionnaire, etc., as well as with the organisation of the data collection process in the field.

In addition to methodological and organisational aspects, the training agenda also includes sessions to familiarise participants with the electronic data collection application on tablets as well as practical simulation exercises covering various situations that may occur in the field.

Furthermore, the training emphasizes the importance of effective interaction with members of the selected households, providing the necessary explanations regarding the participation of children in the survey as respondents, only with the consent of their parents or legal representatives (confirmed by a signed agreement), as well as ensuring the confidentiality and protection of the collected data, which will be used solely for statistical purposes.

The preparation, organisation and implementation of the “Children’s Activities” survey in national practice are carried out with the support of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), in accordance with the NBS-UNICEF Action Plan for 2025-2026 and with technical assistance of the Statistics Department of the International Labour Organisation (ILO).

In line with the Statistical Work Programme for 2025, the implementation of the ”Children's Activities” research is planned for the second quarter of 2025 (14 April-13 July).
