National Bureau of Statistics informs that, in 2016, 306,3 thou. tourists attended the establishments of collective touristic accommodation, of which 185,0 thou. Moldovan tourists and 121,3 thou. foreign tourists. In comparison with 2015 the number of tourists has increased, mainly due to the increase with 2,3 times of the number of tourists in touristic and agrotouristic pensions and with in hotels and motels.

National Bureau of Statistics announces that the number of population of the Republic of Moldova at the beginning of the 2017 year amounted 3550,9 thousand people, less than in the same period of 2016 with 2,2 thousand people. More than half of the population is rural - 2034,1 thousand people, or 57,3%, in urban areas are living 1516,8 thousand persons, or 42,7%.

The growth of global agricultural production was determined by the increase of vegetal production with 26,0% and of livestock production - with 3,1%.

National Bureau of Statistics informs that the publication "Territorial statistics", edition 2016 has been posted on the website. The publication contains information regarding social-economical and demographic situation in territorial aspect (development regions/municipalities, rayons and statistical regions) for the period 2011-2015. For the first time the indicator Regional Gross Domestic Product has been calculated and included in this edition.

National Bureau of Statistics informs that, in the academic year 2016/17, primary and general secondary education is provided in 1291 units, including 122 primary schools, 788 secondary schools, 366 high schools and 15 schools for children with intelectual or physical disabilities. Compared to previous academic year, the number of primary and general secondary institutions has decreased with 32 units.
