In 2022, the Republic of Moldova ranked 15th in the world out of 192 assessed countries and 2nd place in Eastern Europe by the coverage and openness of official statistics data, according to the Open Data Watch Organization – Open Data Inventory (ODIN), which annually carries out an international assessment of official statistics websites in several countries of the world.
The publication contains quarterly statistical information which presents the economic, social and demographic situation of the municipality Chisinau. The publication contains statistical indicators regarding demographic situation, labour market, health, tourism, crimes, agriculture, industry, investments in fixed assets, construction and transport.
On 21st February this year, a joint meeting between the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) and United Nations agencies in the Republic of Moldova was held to discuss the perspectives of supporting the NBS in the process of developing of the National Statistical System.

The Statistical yearbook "Chisinau in figures" is the most complete publication, which comprises statistical data regarding the demographic, social and economic situation of the municipality. The yearbook is structured in 15 chapters, containing information from various fields: general data, population, labour force, population incomes and expenditures, education, culture and sport, health protection and social protection, dwellings and public utilities, environment, justice.
Publication is developed based on the results of structural business survey and presents the main indicators of business activity in the Republic of Moldova, including by types of activity, forms of ownership, size classes and regional aspect.
The yearbook contains the most recent statistical data available in various fields, for economic and social characterization of the country in 2021, as well as the evolution in recent years of the main indicators. The data on some indicators are revised compared to those previously published, and for 2021 some indicators are preliminary and in further editions can be revised. The relative indicators reported to the number of population were revised based on the usual resident population.
The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) obtained the certificates of compliance according to the standards ISO/IEC 27001:2013 on information security and ISO/IEC 27701:2019 on the protection of personal/confidential data.
The publication contains statistics concerning the air protection in atmosphere, the use of aquatic resources, the existence of land and forestry resources, formation and use of consumption and production waste, protected natural areas, the association of hunting, violations of ecologic legislation.
