National Bureau of Statistics informs that, in the I-st quarter 2018 the economically active population of the Republic of Moldova was 1172,9 thousand persons, less with 2,4% compared to the I-st quarter 2017.
National Bureau of Statistics communicates that in January-March 2018 value of investments in fixed assets amounted to 2434,5 mio. lei, increasing by 2,9% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
National Bureau of Statistics informs that, the number of children of the Republic of Moldova as of January 1, 2017 was 676,0 thousand children, thus each fifth person was aged up to 18 years old. The birth rate was estimated at 9,6 live-births per 1000 inhabitants. The birth rate in the rural localities is higher in comparison with the urban area.
National Bureau of Statistics informs that in January-March 2018 were put into operation 1119 dwellings with total area of 91,2 m2, or with 25,6% less than in January-March 2017.
Public water supply and sewerage systems
National Bureau of Statistics reports that in 2017 compared to the previous year the number of water supply systems has increased by 33 units, thus on the territory of the country there are 1214 water supply systems. Out of the total aqueducts, 1150 systems or 94,7 percent were operating during the year, at the same time, 26 aqueducts were rebuilt, of which 25 in rural localities.
National Bureau of Statistics informs that, in the first quarter 2018 the average gross nominal earnings constituted 5906,5 Lei, an increase of 13,2% compared to the first quarter 2017. The index of the real salary in the first quarter 2018 compared to the first quarter 2017 was 107,6%, more with 7,6% compared to previous year.
National Bureau of Statistics informs that, in January-March 2018 volume of works carried out by organizations with the main activity "Constructions" amounted 1089,5 mio. Lei, which is 98,3% (in comparable prices) compared to January-March 2017.
National Bureau of Statistics informs that, in January-April 2018 enterprises of railway, road, river and air transport, have transported 4,4 mio. tonnes of goods, with 12,7% more than in the corresponding period of the previous year. The turnover of goods summed up 1369,0 mio. tonne-km, with 4,8% more than in the January-April 2017.

National Bureau of Statistics informs that in January-March 2018 the gross written premiums amounted to 332,1 million lei, increasing by 7,0% compared to the gross premiums written in the corresponding period of 2017.
The National Bureau of Statistics informs that, in January-March 2018 tourism agencies and tour-operators provided tourism services to 35,6 thousand tourists and excursionists, with 27,6% more than in the corresponding period of 2017. The growth of the number of tourists and excursionists was caused by increase of outbound tourism, inbound tourism. In the same time, the number of tourists decreased of internal tourism.
Industrial production price indices
National Bureau of Statistics informs that, in April 2018 the producer prices in industry decreased with 0,1% compared to March 2018, and increased with 1,0% compared to April 2017. Simultaneously, the prices decreased with 0,3% compared to December 2017.
National Bureau of Statistics informs that, in January-March 2018, 49,7 thou. tourists attended the establishments of collective touristic accommodation, of which 27,1 thou. foreign tourists and 22,6 thou. Moldovan tourists.
According to data of National Bank of Moldova, in January-March 2018 cash receipts in the financial institutions amounted to 24790 million lei, more with 1,3% compared to January-March 2017.
National Bureau of Statistics informs that, in 2017 by leasing companies were leased out fixed assets with total value of 1426,6 mio. Lei or with 195,1 mio. Lei more than in 2016. The major part of fixed assets leased out were the transport means with a value of 1335,6 mio. Lei, of which automobiles constituted 1286,8 mio. Lei.
National Bureau of Statistics informs that, in March 2018, the industrial production increased by 10,2% compared to the corresponding month of the previous year, as a result of increase of the manufacturing industry and the production of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and air conditioning supply. In the same time, the quarrying industry registered a decrease.
The National Bureau of Statistics informs that in April 2018 the annual inflation registered 3,7%, including: food products – 6,8%, nonfood products – 2,4% and services – 0,4%. Also the consumer price index in April 2018 compared to March 2018 registered 100,5%.
National Bureau of Statistics informs that in January-March 2018 the number of crossings of the state border by foreign citizens, at the entrance in Republic of Moldova, totaled 788,3 thousand persons, increasing by 12,3% compared to the corresponding period of 2017.
National Bureau of Statistics informs that, in January-March 2018 exports summed up 678,2 mio. USD, more than in the corresponding period of 2017 with 28,4% and imports summed up 1326,2 mio. USD, more than in the corresponding period of 2017 with 28,7%.
The activity of the improvement, adjustment and maintenance of green space in urban areas during 2017 was conducted on a total of 7,7 thousands ha or 8,9% of the total land area, which is basically the previous year. During the years 2010-2013 the area of the green spaces is kept constant.
Sales indices of agricultural production prices
National Bureau of Statistics informs that producer prices of agricultural products in January-March 2018 registered 91,5% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
In 2017, PhD studies took place in 46 doctoral schools, organized in 19 higher education institutions, some of which formed consortia, national and international partnerships with other higher education institutions and scientific research institutions.
National Bureau of Statistics informs that, global agricultural production, in all types of households in January-March 2018 summed up 1633 mio. Lei, that is 101,0% in comparable prices compared to January-March 2017.
National Bureau of Statistics informs that in January-March 2018, 658 building permits for residential and non-residential buildings were issued, less with 15,4% compared to January-March 2017.
In 2017 the network of early education institutions underwent a number of changes, the number of which correlated with the population in the 0-6 age group. 10 early education institutions ceased their activity, 4 units in ATU Gagauzia and the North Region, and 1 in the Central and South Region, all of them in rural areas. In Chisinau municipality, an institution with the form of private property ceased activity.
National Bureau of Statistics informs that, the research and development activity in 2017 was conducted in 64 units, of which 40 institutes and/or research centres, 17 higher education institutions and 7 - other types of units. From the total number of units, 51 units or 80% are in state ownership.

National Bureau of Statistics informs that, in March 2018 the producer prices in industry remained at the same level compared to February 2018, and increased with 1,0% compared to March 2017. Simultaneously, the prices decreased with 0,2% compared to December 2017.
National Bureau of Statistics informs that, in February 2018, the industrial production (gross series) increased by 4,0% compared to the corresponding month of the previous year, as a result of increase of the quarrying industry (+50,8%) and the manufacturing industry (+9,6%).
