Statistical portrait of women and men in the Republic of Moldova
The National Bureau of Statistics presents the information on the statistical situation of women and men in the Republic of Moldova based on available data.
The female population prevails among the population with usual residence (52,3% women and 47,7% men). At the beginning of 2022, there were 91 men per 100 women. The share differs by age group. The male population predominates in the age group of 0-14 years, the ratio being 106 men per 100 women, and in the 15-34 age group, the number of men and women is 103 men per 100 women. The differences are more pronounced in the case of the population aged 35-64 and 65 years and older, per 100 women 92 men and 60 men respectively return. In urban and rural areas, the sex ratio is also in favour of women - 85 and 96 men per 100 women respectively.
