National Bureau of Statistics informs that in 2021, the number of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) was 59,4 thousand enterprises and represents about 98,4% of the total number of reporting enterprises.
 
The average number of employees in SMEs in the reference period constituted 314,9 thousand persons, which is 59,1% of the total number of employees of enterprises. The turnover in SMEs in 2021 summed up 183 569,7 million lei or 37,6% of total turnover in economy.
