A number of 584,0 thousand of people aged 60 and over were living in the Republic of Moldova at the beginning of 2021, which represents 22,5% of the total number of the population with usual residence. About 349,5 thousand of the total number of older people were women, every third person was between 60 and 64 years old, and 61,2 thousand were people over the age of 80.
On September 16, an online meeting took place between the representatives of the National Bureau of Statistics of the Republic of Moldova and Anželika Pavlova, representative of the Latvian Statistical Office.
