Women’s entrepreneurship
The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), with the support of UN Women, produces statistics on women’s entrepreneurship, which currently have the status of experimental statistics.
The experimental estimates on women’s entrepreneurship are produced in accordance with Work No. 117 under Component 1 of the Statistical Work Programme for 2025, approved by Government Decision No. 897/2024.
The compilation of estimates on women’s entrepreneurship involves the development of statistical datasets from a gender perspective, based on two criteria: (i) the administrator of the economic entity; and (ii) the founders of the economic entity.
The datasets on women’s entrepreneurship cover the following areas:
- Business activity (turnover, number of employees, etc.);
- Business demography (number of entities, birth rate, liquidation rate, etc.);
- Export of goods;
- Business expectations and constraints.
No additional statistical data were collected for the compilation of data on women’s entrepreneurship. Instead, the statistical and administrative data sources available to the NBS were used, namely:
