NEWLabour Force in the Republic of Moldova: Employment and Unemployment in the fourth quarter of 2024

National Bureau of Statistics informs that, according to the results of the survey ,,Labour Force Survey (LFS), in the fourth quarter 2024" the labour force (active population aged 15 years and over) was 849,5 thousand persons, which is 7.6% less than in the fourth quarter of 2023, the employed population aged 15 and over was 816.7 thousand persons, 6.6% less than in the fourth quarter 2023.

NEWEvolution of sale prices of agricultural products in 2024

The National Bureau of Statistics informs that producer prices of agricultural products in 2024 compared to 2023 increased by 14.0%, including prices for plant products increased on average by 17.9%, prices for animal products decreased on average by 1.5%.

Average monthly earnings and the average number of employees index in the fourth quarter of 2024

National Bureau of Statistics informs that, in the real sector units with 4 or more employees and all budgetary institutions, in the fourth quarter of 2024 the average gross monthly earnings amounted to 15024,5 lei, and increased by 12,1% compared to the fourth quarter of 2023 and by 6,4% compared to the third quarter of 2024.

Investment in fixed assets in 2024

National Bureau of Statistics informs that, according to preliminary data, in 2024 investments in long-term assets amounting to 35.2 billion lei, increasing by 7.9% (in comparable prices) compared to 2023, of which investments in tangible assets amounting to 34.1 billion lei (increasing by 8.2%); investments in intangible assets amounting to 1.1 billion lei (descreasing by 1.1%).

Crime situation in the Republic of Moldova in 2024

In 2024, 24.6 thousand crimes were registered on the territory of the Republic of Moldova, which is 2.5% more compared to 2023, but less 6.5% compared to 2020. The crime rate in 2024 accounted for 102 crimes per 10,000 inhabitants, compared to 99 crimes in 2023.

Gross agricultural production in 2024

National Bureau of Statistics informs that the gross agricultural production, in all categories of agricultural producers in 2024 amounted 85,4%, in comparable prices, compared to 2023. ​​​​​​​At the same time: crop production decreased by 22,9%, livestock production increased by 5,7%.

Passenger and freight transport in 2024

The National Bureau of Statistics reports that in 2024, public transport companies transported 307.6 million passengers, 12.5% more than in last year. This evolution was due to the increase in the number of passengers transported by air (+24.0%), road (+22.9%) and trolleybus transport (+7.8%). At the same time, the number of passengers carried by railway (-23.9%) decreased during the analyzed period.

Construction activity in entrepreneurship in the fourth quarter and year 2024

The National Bureau of Statistics informs that: in 2024, the volume of construction works increased compared to 2023 by 4.8% (in comparable prices), in the fourth quarter of 2024, the volume of construction works increased compared to the fourth quarter 2023 by 7.1% (in comparable prices).

Accommodation of tourists in establishments of collective touristic reception in 2024

The National Bureau of Statistics reports that in 2024, collective tourist accommodation structures were visited by 474.2 thousand tourists (21.1% more than in 2023), including 220.2 thousand residents (46.4% of the total) and 254.0 thousand foreign tourists (53.6%).

The National Bureau of Statistics informs that in 2024 the number of visitors, participants in tourism organised by travel agencies and tour operators constituted 555.9 thousand persons (with 10.4% more than in 2023), of which: inbound tourism (receiving foreign citizens in the country) registered 67.6 thousand people (+55.1% compared to 2023); outbound tourism (travel of Moldovan residents abroad) – 9 persons (+9.5%).

Consumer price indices in the Republic of Moldova in January 2025

National Bureau of Statistics informs that, average consumer prices in January 2025 increased compared to December 2025 by about 2,8%, January 2024 (during the last 12 months) by 9,1%.

Preliminary results of the 2024 Population and Housing Census

The National Bureau of Statistics informs that the number of the usual resident population as of the reference date of the 2024 Population and Housing Census (PHC) – April 8, 2024 (according to preliminary results) was 2 401.2 thousand persons.

Activity of the primary and general secondary education institutions, beginning of the study year 2024/25

The National Bureau of Statistics informs at the beginning of 2024/25 study year were active 1185 institutions of primary and general secondary education, inclusive: 88 primary schools, 752 gymnasiums, 337 lyceums, 6 schools for children with mental or physical handicap and 2 evening schools, the number of pupils in primary and general secondary education amounted to 335.1 thousand persons, of which 334.1 thousand persons study in day schools and 1.0 thousand persons in evening schools.

The National Bureau of Statistics informs that in 2022 the number of active enterprises constituted 41,5 thousand enterprises, or 4,3% more than in 2021, the largest share in the total number of active enterprises was registered by enterprises in the sector of wholesale and retail trade, constituting 39,6% of the total number of active enterprises, data for 2021 have been revised based on additional information available for 2023.

National Bureau of Statistics informs that in November 2024 producer prices in industry, increased with 0,1% compared to October this year, decreased with 1,3% since the beginning of the current year; decreased with 1,1% compared to November 2023.

Youth NEET in the Republic of Moldova for the third quarter of 2024

Gross Domestic Product in the third quarter and in January-September 2024

National Bureau of Statistics informs that the preliminary estimations of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the third quarter of 2024 constituted 90.9 billion lei, in current market prices, decreasing (in real terms) by 1.9% as compared to the third quarter of 2023, in January-September 2024 totalled 233.1 billion lei, in current market prices, increasing (in real terms) by 0.6% as compared to the corresponding period of 2023.

Distribution of employees by size of salary calculated for September 2024

National Bureau of Statistics informs that for employees who worked the entire month of September and the full day, in real sector units with 4 or more employees and all budgetary institutions: the average gross monthly salary in September amounted to 13,499.7 lei; approximately 3 out of 4 employees (74.1%) had salaries of more than 7,000 lei, and every fourth employee (25.9%) had salaries of up to 7,000 lei.
