The National Bureau of Statistics informs at the beginning of 2023/24 study year. 

• were active 1201 institutions of primary and general secondary education, inclusive: 87 primary schools, 761 gymnasiums, 344 lyceums, 7 schools for children with mental or physical handicap and 2 evening schools;
• the number of pupils in primary and general secondary education amounted to 334.4 thousand persons, of which 333.5 thousand persons study in day schools and 0.9 thousand persons in evening schools;
• the number graduates of gymnasiums were 30,0 thousand persons, and graduates of lyceums was 12,0 thousand persons, of which 10,7 thousand persons received a bachelor’s degree;
• the number of management and pedagogical staff amounted to 26,0 thousand persons.
