Freight and passenger transportation in the Republic of Moldova in January-August 2019

The National Bureau of Statistics informs that 68,0 million passengers were transported with public transport in January-August 2019, with 1,6% more than in the similar period of 2018. The passenger's journey constituted 4095,0 million passenger-kilometers, with 2,5% more than January-August 2018.

In the period under review, passenger transport accounted for the highest share (97,0%), followed by air transport (1,5%) and rail transport (1,3%).

Compared to January-August 2018, increases were recorded for road transport of passengers (+2,1%) and river transport (+1,7%). At the same time, there is a decrease, compared to the respective period of 2018, rail passengers (-23,5%) and air transport (-1,4%).
