Passenger and freight transport in January-September 2025
The National Bureau of Statistics reports that in January-September 2025, public transport companies transported 245.5 million passengers, 6.9% more than in the same period last year. This evolution was due to the increase in the number of passengers transported by air (+39.4%), trolleybus (+8.3%) and road transport (+4.2%). At the same time, the number of passengers carried by rail (-49.2%) and river transport (-0.9%) decreased during the analyzed period. Passenger turnover increased by 19.9% and amounted to 5623.2 million passenger-km.
In January-September 2025, railway, road, river and air transport enterprises transported 14.3 million tons of cargo, which is 3.9% lower than in January-September 2024. During the reporting period, the volume of cargo transported by river transport (+13.1%) and road transport (+1.0%) increased. At the same time, the volume of cargo transported by air (-38.1%) and rail transport (-1.3%) decreased. Cargo turnover of transport enterprises amounted to 4119.9 million ton-km, which is 3.9% less than in the same period last year.
