Youth NEET in the Republic of Moldova for the third quarter of 2023
National Bureau of Statistics informs that, according to the results of the ,,Labor Force Survey” (LFS), in the third of 2023, young people aged between 15-34 years were represented by the following categories of people:
- young people neither in employment nor in education and training (NEET), the proportion of which was 28.6%, decreasing by 1.5 percentage points compared to the level of the third quarter of 2022 (30.1%);
- young people not in employment, but in education and training, which reached the share of 26.0%, or by 0.3 percentage points more compared to the third quarter of 2022 (25.7%);
- young people in employment, but not in education and training, which constituted 36.6%, increasing by 1.8 percentage points compared to the third quarter of 2022;
- young people in employment and in education and training, which marked 3.5,%, increasing by 1.8 percentage points compared to the third quarter of 2022 (1.7%);
- young people who are abroad working or looking for work for a period of up to one year and not in education and training, which constituted 5.3%, decreasing by 2.4 percentage points compared to the level of the third quarter of 2022 (7.7%).
The total number of young people aged 15-34 years who forming the NEET group was 167.1 thousand people aged 15-24 years – 38.5 thousand people, aged 15-29 years – 100.3 thousand people. For all these three age groups, the majority are women (51.4% at the group 15-24 years, 65.4% at the aged 15-29 years and 64.4% at rge aged 15-34 years).
