The National Bureau of Statistics informs on the activity of primary and general secondary education institutions at the beginning of 2022/23 study year. In the 2022/23 study year, were active 1218 primary and general secondary education institutions, inclusive: 92 primary schools, 781 gymnasiums, 336 lyceums, 7 schools for children with mental or physical disability, 2 schools evening education. Out of the total of 1218 primary and general secondary education institutions, 98,1% belong to the public sector, and 74,3% active in rural areas.
