The data source is the National Bank of Moldova (NBM). NBM collects data on offers for sale of real estate from large listing platforms. Data collection is carried out twice a month, and the data for the aggregation weights are provided by the Cadaster Department at the end of each year.
Currently, the coverage of the Residential Property Price Index (RPPI) is limited to mun. Chisinau. At the same time, the index reflects developments within the primary market (real estate traded for the first time) and the secondary market (real estate already on the market). The subindices for the primary and secondary markets are aggregated by weighting based on the data on the number of transactions offered by the Cadaster Department of the Public Services Agency.
The RPPI index is calculated with quarterly periodicity, based on data for real estate that was put up for sale during the corresponding quarter. The aggregation weights are updated annually and represent the average of the total number of transactions for the respective year.
The aggregated RPPI index is disseminated together with primary and secondary market subindices. The publication of the RPPI index is carried out quarterly, during the next quarter after the reporting quarter.
