National Bureau of Statistics informs that in the fourth quarter of 2023: the average gross monthly earnings in the real sector units with 4 or more employees and all budgetary institutions amounted to 13401.1 lei, increasing by 16.1% compared to the fourth quarter of 2022 and by 8.4% compared to the third quarter of 2023; the index of real earnings (calculated as the ratio of the index of gross nominal earnings and the consumer price index) was 110.3%.mpared to the fourth quarter of 2022, earnings increased in real terms by 10.3%.
National Bureau of Statistics informs that, according to preliminary data, in 2023 investments in long-term assets amounting to 32.2 billion lei decreased with 1.0% (in comparable prices) compared to 2022, of which investments in tangible assets amounting to 31.1 billion lei (decreasing with 1.7%) and investments in intangible assets amounting to 1.1 billion lei (increasing with 26.9%).
The crime rate in 2023 was 96 crimes per 10 thousand inhabitants, compared to 120 crimes in 2019. Every sixth crime is in the exceptionally grave, extremely grave and grave category. In 2023, 11,5 thousand victims of crime were recorded. As a result of the recorded crimes of domestic violence, in 2023, 685 people were affected, 71,2% of the victims were women. The highest level of crime was recorded among men – 90,9%, women constituting 9,1% in the number of people who committed crimes.
National Bureau of Statistics informs that the gross agricultural production, in all categories of agricultural producers in 2023, according to preliminary estimates, increased by 23.6%, in comparable prices, compared to 2022. At the same time: crop production increased by 35.1%; livestock production decreased by 1.9%.
National Bureau of Statistics informs that in 2023 compared to 2022: number of passengers transported by public transport increased (+11.0%) and turnover of passengers (+9.3%); transport of goods has registered decreases in the volume of goods transported (-5.1%) and in the turnover of goods (-3.9%).
National Bureau of Statistics informs that, in 2023, the volume of construction works decreased compared to 2022 with 2.5% (in comparable prices), as a result of the decrease of the volume of new construction works (-14.2%) and of the volume of maintenance and current repairs works (-12.0%). The volume of capital repair works and the volume of other construction works (demolition, land development up to construction, etc.) increased in the analysis period with 40.4% and 17.0% respectively compared to 2022.
On 20-21 February 2024, our country is hosting the High-Level International Workshop on "Modern Official Statistics in the European Union accession context ". The workshop is organized by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) of the Republic of Moldova in cooperation with the Statistical Office of the European Union (Eurostat).
National Bureau of Statistics informs: in December 2023 compared to December 2022 industrial production (gross series) increased by 1.1%; in 2023 compared to the previous year industrial production (gross series) decreased by 3.6%.
National Bureau of Statistics informs that, in 2023 the number of tourists and excursionists participating in tourism organized by travel agencies and tour operators increased by 5.6% compared to 2022 and constituted 503.7 thousand persons, of which: inbound tourism (foreign citizens visiting Moldova) registered 43.6 thousand people (+50.3% compared to 2022); outbound tourism (Moldovan residents travelling abroad) - 362.4 thousand persons (+11.7%); domestic tourism (Moldovan residents travelling inside Moldova) - 97.7 thousand persons (-21.0%).
In 2023 exports of goods amounted to 4048.6 million US dollars, with 6.5% less than in 2022. In 2023 imports of goods amounted to 8673.7 million US dollars, with 5.9% less than in 2022.
National Bureau of Statistics informs that average consumer prices in January 2024 increased compared to: December 2023 by about 0.8%; January 2023 (over the last 12 months) by 4.6%.
The European Union and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) today handed over to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) a consignment of digital equipment, including 3,000 electronic tablets and related accessories, worth about 800,000 EUR. The digital equipment is provided for the Population and Housing Census (PHC) that will take place from 8 April to 7 July 2024.
National Bureau of Statistics informs that in 2023, 3.4 thousand building permits for residential and non-residential buildings were issued, increasing with 0,6% compared to 2022: 2.3 thousand building permits for residential buildings (-2.1%); 1.2 thousand building permits for non-residential buildings (+6.3%).

Industrial production price indices
National Bureau of Statistics informs that in December 2023 producer prices in industry: increased by 0,2% compared to November 2023 and increased by 1.4% compared to December 2022.

National Bureau of Statistics informs that, exports of goods in November 2023 registered a value of 379.1 millions US dollars, 10.9% more than in October 2023 and with 6.7% more than in November 2022. Imports of goods in November 2023 amounted 732.2 millions US dollars, with 2.6% more than in the previous month and 14.7% less than in November 2022.

The Statistical yearbook "Chisinau in figures" is the most complete publication, which comprises statistical data regarding the demographic, social and economic situation of the municipality. The yearbook is structured in 15 chapters, containing information from various fields: general data, population, labour force, population incomes and expenditures, education, culture and sport, health protection and social protection, dwellings and public utilities, environment, justice.
The publication is developed based on the results of structural business survey and presents the main indicators of business activity in the Republic of Moldova, including types of activity, forms of ownership, size classes, and regional aspect.
National Bureau of Statistics informs that in the period 2021-2022: the share of innovative enterprises in total enterprises was 11.4%, compared to 12.6% in 2019-2020; the highest share of innovative enterprises in the total number of innovative enterprises was recorded by enterprises in the manufacturing industry, accounting for 46.2% of the total number of innovative enterprises; the share of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with innovation activity constituted 89.8% of the total number of innovative enterprises.

The yearbook contains the most recent statistical data available in various fields, for economic and social characterization of the country in 2022, as well as the evolution in recent years of the main indicators. The data on some indicators are revised compared to those previously published, and for 2022 some indicators are preliminary and in further editions can be revised. In the final part of the Yearbook data on international statistics are presented, which allows comparison of some indicators for the Republic of Moldova with those from other countries.
